FAMILIAR SAINTS:

July 25; St. James, chosen by Christ to follow him. One of three who were selected by Christ to witness his Transfiguration on the mountain. May we be as close to Christ as James.

July 26: Sts. Joachim & Anna, parents of our blessed Mother, Mary. We know practically nothing about them, but them, but to know their daughter is, to some extent, to know them also. How pleasing it is to Mary that we give honor to her parents.

July 29: St. Martha. Remembered especially for serving a meal to Christ while her sister, Mary, prayed with him. Better still, she is remembered for her testimony of Christ “I have come to believe that you are the Mesiah, the Son of God, who has come in to the world.

July 31: St.Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuit Order. Reading the lives of the saints changed him from being a soldier of Spain to a soldier of Christ. The Jesuit are honored throughout the world.
