August 1: Alphonsus Liguori, founder of Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. His aim was to work for the most abandoned people who, in his time, were living in the country. Now, these people are found mostly in large cities. In Thailand the Reddemptorists serve the people in both places.

May 25, St. Gregory VII, Pope. The Church in the 11th century was not a happy Church.Three evils prevailed: simony (buying & sacred object; unlawful marriage of the clergy & lay investiture (kings controlling appointment of church officials). Gregory fought against all of these, resisting any attack on the Church and protecting its unity.

On Saturday, May 29th , 4 young Seminarians will be professed as members of the Redemptorist Order and 4 Major Seminarians will be ordained as Deacons in the Priesthood in a ceremony at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Minburi (on the RIS campus). Congratulations!!!
